Shiner
Rolling out of bed and dropping something heavy you're not supposed to be playing with will do it to you.
Poor baby girl. Good thing she's still a cutie pie.

My First Video
I'm trying to figure out all the wonderful things my camera can do.
On a side note - does anyone know how to link you tube videos directly into the blog and make it look right? I can't figure that one out.

The Usual
. . .chain of events.
Luke tries to help. This usually includes jumping up and down or over the baby to make her laugh, carrying her around the house (she does weigh 20 lbs so this is pretty funny), or trying to feed her.
Lily is not amused.

Evie realizes there is something going on where she is not the center of attention. This is not okay.

She now sticks her face right in front of the lens. Just in case you missed her.

We were here
We spent 2 days last week here:

I'd never gone before. I had a conference in Phoenix so Ken and I spent 2 days hiking, wandering, and taking in the view. Without kids (hooray!). It was amazing, absolutely amazing.

We hiked one day about 1/2 way down the canyon. There are warning signs everywhere reminding people not to try to hike all the way in and back in one day (I can see why - we were exhausted and hot after just 1/2 way in).
But the views were incredible.

We got up early the last morning we were there for a 3 mile hike into the canyon to watch the sunrise.
For part of the trail, you hike on this ridge way up in the canyon, with the canyon walls falling down on either side of you. I may have been a little nervous (the wind didn't help).

Absolutely incredible.

We were tired and achy and the huge blisters (I only had Keens) on my feet made it hard to wear dress shoes for my conference the next day. But I want to go back and hike the whole thing. Anyone with me?

8 months
Our Squishy is 8 months old. Really? Really?
She is happy. She is sweet and lovely and exceptionally squishy. We can't imagine our house without her in it.

A few 8 month updates:
She can sit pretty well now but no crawling, scooting, or moving. That's probably why she's so squishy.
She is starting to get separation anxiety, a little earlier than I remember - she HATES when you walk out of the room, turn your back, step away. She gets very, very sad.
She is finally starting to do ( a little) better with solid food. Strange.
She has a tooth!
She is up to 20.5 pounds. We know this because she is on yet another antibiotic for yet another ear infection.
