News

I've been a bad, bad blogger.

We had ultrasound pictures of our baby due in October (yes, you read that right) from 8 weeks ago that I've been meaning to scan but never got around to actually doing it.

We showed Luke the pictures and asked what he thought it was:

"A shell!"

"A crab!"

"A fish!"

Today, we took him to see the 19 week ultrasound of the baby. He thought this was pretty cool and could actually tell it was a baby.

I was a little worried because for several weeks, he was convinced that the baby would be a boy (because "we already have a baby girl" and "I prayed to Heavenly Father and He told me it was a boy")

Luckily, he had resigned himself to the fact that it could be a boy or a girl, and was fairly well controlled.

Which is good, because . .

It's a (dramatic pause)

Girl!

Scripture Reading

Evie decided to help by "reading" to us the other night.

She hopped up on the bed with the scriptures open in her lap.

This was her interpretation:

"yadda yadda blah blah and it came to pass . . . blah yadda blah . . .Jesus said . . blah blah . . .Sit down!" (finger pointing at the rest of us, in high pitched authoritative voice) "Sit down! Sit down!:

Glad to hear she's paying attention to the important points.

Changes

I realize I've been on somewhat of a blogging hiatus.

It's been a busy couple of weeks for us around here.

Ken's company did a bunch of downsizing, leaving him looking (all over the country) for another job. No luck yet (stinking economy) though he has had a couple of good interviews. Keeping our fingers crossed that something great will turn up -- anyone out there need an exceptionally excellent product manager?

In the mean time, he's been keeping busy pursuing his more domestic side:

He made these. In fact, he's done it several times. It's probably the best darn homemade bread I've ever had.

Catching up on house projects. He and Luke refinished the deck - Luke spent literally all afternoon painting the railings. I love the way his feet look, all covered in paint.

I've been working, taking my board exams, doing some traveling (mostly for work, though Ken and I did take a trip to California for a few days and hung out near the beach).

Evie's been busy learning princess songs (her new favorite is "I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream" from Sleeping Beauty. She sings it pretty much nonstop, generally while twirling and dancing). She's speaking really well now, mostly in full sentences Her best the other day was while we were attacking her with kisses. She started giggling "No kissing Evie! No kissing Evie!" over and over. Her daddy hopes she keeps this phrase up at least into her 20s.

We've had a bunch of guests which has been fun - Caroline and Michael have been in town job hunting and house hunting, and the kids have loved having the cousins around

I've got more updates and posts coming.

Happy Easter

I hope your day was wonderful.

I hope you were surrounded by friends and family, felt the love of our Savior (and ate a little chocolate too).

Happy Easter!

Puddle Jumping

We're big puddle jumpers around here.

We don't let a little rain stop us from dragging the kids outside for a little fresh air and to get some energy out.

April snow (like I woke up to this morning), however, is another question entirely. Which would explain why I'm still in my pajamas.

The Happiest Place on Earth

We spent a few, glorious, sun-filled days last weekend in California at Disneyland and Seaworld.

The weather was beautiful and sunny (and we even got a little sunburned - it was therapy for my Vitamin-D starved soul).

The kids were happy and dirty and tired.

I had crab cakes and fish tacos at a great restaurant by the bay in San Diego

My parents are the best.

***All this stems from a bet I made my dad as a teenager - I bet him dinner anywhere in the country that I would never live in a basement aparement (don't know why but it sounded so dark and dreary). I never did, and we finally cashed in on it -- dinner at Disneyland.

Here are the outtakes:

The "before" picture

In front of the castle

"Hurry, Mom, I know there are princesses in here!"

This was great - she kept running up to the queen yelling "pwincess! pwincess!" until the actor stopped, smiled, and let her run up and take a picture. I feel a little bad about all those people we cut in front of . . .

Princess dress and shoe shopping with Grandma.
She hasn't taken off her princess dress yet.

Posing in front of the castle.

Evie's Disneyland uniform - princess dress and pink ears.
She yelled when I tried to take them off of her.

I have to confess, it was me that picked out the blue Mickey baloon.
And made the whole family cart it around for the weekend.

My favorite shot of the trip.

Soakin' up the sun at La Jolla.

Don't you just want to jump in?

Beach baby.

Luke and Ken petting the Dolphins at seaworld.
One of the coolest things they have done.
